The world’s largest sailing yacht is delivering the ‘wow factor’ for guests, says Pascal Visintainer, Global Chief Sales Officer, Accor Luxury & Lifestyle of newly-launched Orient Express Corinthian. Delivered in late April by the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, the vessel has been operating a series of private charters and buyouts before embarking on its maiden commercial sailing this coming weekend.
Speaking to media at ILTM Asia Pacific in Singapore, Visintainer boasted that “every client” that has been aboard Orient Express Corinthian in the past two months have said the same thing. “They don’t want to leave. It is exceptional.”
The 220-metre, 54-suite sailing ship features three SolidSail rigs spanning 1,500 square-metres that rise 320 feet and rotate 360 degrees – enough to propel the 15,000-tonne vessel with ease.
For this year’s Cannes Film Festival in May, Orient Express Corinthian was propelled “just with the wind” between Marseille and Cannes. “Not a gram of [LNG] gas was consumed, sailing at 14.6 knots,” he said.
